Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) Rooflights
Natural smoke and heat ventilation units that also provide natural light, comfort ventilation and roof access.
Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) Rooflights are electrically operated natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEV) that allow natural light into a building. They can also be used for comfort ventilation as well as roof access. Designed for easy installation on flat roofs up to 15°, the units open to 140° in less than 60 seconds.
A fire extinguisher is a handheld active fire protection device usually filled with a dry or wet chemical used to extinguish or control small fires, often in emergencies. It is not intended for use on an out-of-control fire, such as one which has reached the ceiling, endangers the user, or otherwise requires the equipment, personnel, resources, and/or expertise of a fire brigade. Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent that can be discharged to extinguish a fire. Fire extinguishers manufactured with non-cylindrical pressure vessels also exist but are less common.

ACCESS CONTROL
Access control enables you to control who has access to your building.
Locks and keys also allow you to secure your building, but when keys are lost or stolen, the inconvenience and expense of changing locks and re-issuing keys can be considerable. Keys may also be copied, creating even more security risks.
The choice of fire alarm system depends on the building structure, the purpose and use of the building and current legislation. In new or altered buildings the enforcement body is the local building control, and the relevant guidance is explained in section new or altered buildings.
A dry riser system is an empty pipe running up the inside of a building which can be connected to by firefighters and used as a pressurised water system. There will be inlet connections on the outside of the building – or in fire escape areas – for the fire services to access, allowing the water to be pumped up to valves on upper floors on the inside.
This makes things easier for firefighters who are tackling a blaze in a building with multiple floors, with most systems installed up to a max of 50m above the fire service access level.
